Another Tourist Dies In New Zealand

We were saddened to hear about the death of Swedish tourist Ivar Sturesson-Bolin who was found deceased at the bottom of a waterfall in Nelson Lakes National Park this morning. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends for their tragic loss.

Unfortunately Mr Sturesson-Bolin is one of many tourists who have met an accidental death in New Zealand, a country that is fraught with natural dangers as well as a few man-made ones. It simply isn’t as safe as people are led to believe and can hold many traps for the unwary and unprepared.

The events surrounding the death of Mr Sturesson-Bolin may be found here.

There is no indication in press reports as to whether Ivar Sturesson-Bolin was on an organised hunting holiday but perhaps questions should be raised about tourists going un-assisted into the NZ bush.

Perhaps guides should accompany them as a  condition of a hunting permit?
