The “sudden death” was that of an elderly man at a Kipling Avenue address, in the “leafy Auckland suburb of Epsom”, discovered at around 7 am today. Our deepest condolences are extended to his family and friends for their tragic loss.
Dead in the family home
Detective Sergeant James Robson said an elderly man had died. Asked if the death was suspicious, Mr Robson said the cause was “unexplained”. “We are determining what’s happened.” He wouldn’t comment further.
A hearse removed the body from the scene just before 10.30am.
The property includes a home used as a boarding house and another dwelling in which a family live. A boarding-house resident said he believed the person had died at the family home.
Police were questioning residents of both properties, but the man said he hadn’t seen or heard anything unusual…”source NZ Herald
The man’s death comes after an explosion in the number of burglaries, random attacks and murders in Auckland by assailants unknown to their victims.
Residents are understandably concerned for their safety and police will be reluctant to release any further details at this stage.
