Prime Minister of New Zealand, John Key, has decried England as a “bunch of wanabees” after they announced they were to wear black shirts and shorts for the RWC in New Zealand.

But in a ungarded moment he went on to carelessly snub other New Zealand national sporting teams by saying

Hayden Roulston won bronze and silver medals

“There’s only one team that wears black with pride and that’s the All Blacks.”

obviously forgetting that there are other sports within New Zealand who also use black as their international team colour.

Many Kiwis are rightly proud of those teams’ achievements, some are more successful than the All Blacks, they all wear black with pride.

Life in New Zealand doesn’t revolve around rugby, does it. There are other sports you know.
