It was a TV series – Top of the Lake http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2103085/

I would suggest to everyone to watch the movie Top of the Hill. It is a great reflection of the systemic corruption, boganism, and downright inbreeding that is so prevalent in New Zealand.

@Calvin: I am sorry about the type. The movie is Top of the Lake. I watched it on Netflix outside of Retardicon 6 where Netflix is available. Here is a link referencing the movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2103085/.
I do not want to ruin the plot, but the fictional account takes place in the Queenstown Lakes region. It is a great illustration of the general inbreeding, incompetence, and corruption of New Zealand society. It was cathartic to watch it.
Thanks. I had heard about this TV series before, but thought you were referring to a different movie altogether. We will probably rent it as soon as we can muster enough detachment to watch. [Thanks also to reader and Rose for the links.] For those who still live inside the movie like us, it can be difficult to watch a “rerun” of reality. Still, if it is as good as everyone says, maybe it will be like watching Breaking Bad.

No, everyone is focused on ISIS and Ebola right now. No one cares about New Zealand outside of New Zealand, except for expat Kiwis, and they are too cynical and busy to seem to want to bother about these revelations.
