The most recent armed robbery was at 7am on 30 June 2009 when 2 Armourguard security men delivering cash outside of ANZ Bank, Heretaunga Street East, Hastings, were held up by two men with a pistol.

The day before the Kiwibank in Fielding was held up at gunpoint by a robber who’d been into the branch earlier in the day and ‘pre-booked’ a large withdrawal of cash.

In 2008 there was a total of 1,160 recorded aggravated robberies in New Zealand, of those 163 were firearm related and 223 used a stabbing or cutting weapon (source NZ statistics)

Drawn from news reports this is a list of armed robberies in New Zealand since the start of this year, based on last year’s figures it looks like quite a few either don’t get reported by the press or never make it to the net.

The list is highlighted to show whether a firearm or other weapon was used and this post will be updated as each robbery becomes known about.
