Our condolences go out this morning to the family of an elderly Chinese couple found dead in the “Art Deco Motor Lodge” in Napier yesterday evening.

As yet police are not releasing any details about the circumstances of their death but they were keen to point out the deceased were not tourists: they were said to be residents in New Zealand and were travelling around the country with their son and daughter-in-law.

Victim support workers are said to have contacted the family.
