Whilst the people of devastated Christchurch are still enduring aftershocks, other places in New Zealand have also been shaken by quakes in recent days.

In addition to a number of  recent quakes in Wellington there was a 4.9 magnitude shallow quake off Kaikoura yesterday that was widely felt on the east coast of the South Island.

Our thoughts are with the thousands of refugees from Christchurch, many of whom must be wondering if there is any stable ground left in New Zealand.
