According to an entry made in his Facebook account Simon Maddison lost his appeal to have his daughter Emma returned from Denmark to New Zealand.
” Just wanted to keep you all informed on my struggle to bring Emma home. Unfortunately my Appeal was turned down.
The Danish Supreme Court didn’t want to reopen my case, even with all the evidence provided that Emma should be returned home to NZ. I am devastated and very upset with the Danish judiciary system for not living up to their obligations. Something needs to be done.” June 2012
Parents who are currently trying to extract their children from New Zealand may wish to find out why his appeal was rejected, and if that decision has any implications for the way other countries will interpret the Geneva Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Come back and talk about it here on this post, or on our long running thread Trapped in NZ – father won’t let child leave
