I would also add that if this “get treated like kings” includes being lied to by people in my cohort, getting told that “there’s nothing wrong with your resume, but this economy is tough all around” and “you need kiwi experience” or “we only hire people who are permanent residents” (seems the Universities are the only “open-to-all-races”-work places) …
why yes, then I did get treated like a king.

Asians and Indians that flood in every day and get treated like kings and we (new zealanders) get traded like trash
Well, pay 5x the fees of locals, and see how you get treated.
Somebody forgot the price factor, it seems.
Of course, don’t forget how many of those people “being treated like kings” are driving taxis or working at Maccas.

They want your blood, sweat and money, but are trying to keep you poor so you have no equity with which to leverage a better life. Perhaps it would help if you were an Asian girl, I saw many having no problems gaining employment despite questionable proficiency in English. There is a deep undercurrent of discrimination that I noticed in NZ, that is mostly directed at Asians who are male, speak English fluently and have proper qualifications - regardless of whether foreign born or local. My suggestion is for you is to see how you can get started on a home-based business and undercut your competition on price and delivery time. They cannot choose to "patronise or recognise an Asian person last", when that person is offering services and specialised goods at a price that is more affordable than their rivals. I would of course remind you that once word of your enterprising nature gets out that your bosses or racists you unknowingly interact with at the workplace, will try to overload you with work or perform other subtle harrassment to get you in difficulty. As the famous Churchill saying goes, "If you're going through hell, keep going!". Good luck!

And what about the subtle passive racism at workplace? I’m not a white kiwi and so many times a job/promotion comes up, it gets passed on to the ‘mates’ even when I tick all the boxes. Promotions are only saved for white kiwis and somehow they make their way up even without having relevant experience. When you are a non-white then all processes and ticking all boxes becomes necessary. Appreciation for education here is non-existant. People drop-out from school and start work and they believe they know everything just through experience. Shut down the universities then….oh..well unis may be just a way to earn foreign dollars.

No matter how much you try, if you are not white you’ll never be a real ‘mate’, doesn’t matter if you go out drinking just to fit in. When the time comes they will shun you in favour of a ‘mate’. Transperancy, fairness, honesty, non-discrimination…my ass. Its all just hogwash. Look from the eyes of a non-white in NZ, you’ll know. There is white privilege everywhere.

How many senior managers of non-white origin have you seen in NZ?

Yes, that’s exactly why I say “just another manager”. Otherwise I would have distinguished him by saying “he seems to have the brains for his position”.
Most people leave their managers, not their jobs.

just another manager? better call it blood sucker, credit taker or terrorist. if it is ‘manager’, it is about MISmanagement, not real management. at least the 3 inch thick telecon written policy manual is not enforced or followed by these so called manager. if they dont even know or read or carry out the nicely written policies, constitute acts of bad faith and breach of contract, or just do things with common decency or common sense, destroy otherwise good customer/employee/shareholder individuals that were naively and blindly loyal to the company, how do they deserve to be in those positions in the first place?

Was it illegal for the govt to change the repayment rules in 2006? I am pretty sure that my student loan contract stated I was interest free while overseas.
